Man Accused Of Holding Victim At Gunpoint In Sex Assault Case

A Dekalb man is accused of criminal sexual assault in Yorkville, and taking the victim's wallet before leaving the area, police reported.

YORKVILLE, IL — A Dekalb man was arrested on accusations of sexual assault stemming from a recent incident in Yorkville, the Yorkville Police Department said in a Thursday news release. According to the police department, officers were called to the 2100 block of Henning Lane at 4:36 p.m. Tuesday to investigate a criminal sexual assault report. During the investigation, officers learned the victim had been forced at gunpoint to perform a sex act on the suspect, now identified as 28-year-old Anton Swanigan, from the 600 block of Blackstone Court in Dekalb, who is also accused of taking the victim's wallet containing money and other items, the news release said.

Swanigan is accused of leaving the area, and was later found and arrested in Dekalb, according to police. On Thursday, police announced Swanigan faces several charges, including aggravated criminal sexual assault, armed robbery, and two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a firearm.

"There was no dangers to the public at large as a result of this incident," police said, in the news release. "The Yorkville Police Department would like to thank the DeKalb Police Department for their assistance."

Swanigan is being held at the Kendall County Jail awaiting a bond hearing, the news release said.
