Composting Food Waste in Iowa City
Good news! Can use 20-35 gallon containers for composting food waste and noncoated paper food containers; must have tight-fitting lid.
Great news for Iowa City residents interested in composting! Based on your feedback, we’ve revised the container requirements for the new curbside food waste collection program. Containers can range in size from 20 to 35 gallons. They do still need to have a tight-fitting lid and an annual yard waste sticker.
