The City of Iowa City, and fans across the state, will be celebrating the kickoff of the University of Iowa Hawkeyes football season with a home game on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019.

The Governor Street Bridge will reopen for traffic - but not to pedestrians- by Saturday. Plans are for the bridge to stay open until Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019, when it will be re-closed to complete work. The bridge is expected to be fully opened by Friday, Sept. 6, 2019.
Residents should expect heavily increased traffic throughout the City on Saturday.

Transit
The Westwinds and Oakcrest bus routes will detour, and will not service areas near Kinnick Stadium or UIHC. This detour will take place for every day a home Hawkeye football game is held.
