ICFD: Winston Drive House Fire Causes $15,000 Worth of Damage

There were no injures reported at this morning's fire at 1807 Winston Drive.


Investigators are still looking into what caused a house fire this morning on Winston Drive that caused an estimated $15,000 in damages but thankfully caused no injuries to the occupants.

According to an Iowa City Fire Department media release, at 8:19 a.m. this morning the Iowa City Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 1807 Winston Drive. The fire department responded to this call with two engines, a ladder, a quint, and a battalion chief.

The first on the scene arrived to find smoke emitting from the read of a single-story wood frame residence. The crew found the main body of the blaze on the wood deck of the ranch-style house, with all occupants of the residence out by the time firefighters arrived, according to the release. Fire crews then initiated an "aggressive fire attack," suppressing the fire within ten minutes of their arrival.
 
13 firefighters were on the scene to assist with suppression efforts, according to the release. The Iowa City Police Department, the Johnson County Ambulance Service, and Mid-American Energy assisted with on the scene efforts. No injuries were reported.
