Iowa City Police Department Investigates Friday Evening Homicide
The victim has been identified, but the identity will not be released pending family notification & autopsy, which is scheduled for Monday.

On Friday, Feb. 12, 2021 at approximately 7:54 p.m., Iowa City Police were called to an apartment in the 600 block of South Governor Street in Iowa City for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found a deceased adult male victim. A witness advised that three men entered the residence, shot the victim, and fled.

The incident remains under investigation by the Iowa City Police Department, the Johnson County Attorney’s Office, and the Johnson County Medical Examiner’s Office. The victim has been identified, but the identity will not be released pending family notification and autopsy, which is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 15, 2021. There does not appear to be a safety threat to the general public at this time.
