Iowa City Police Investigate Suspicious Death
An autopsy is scheduled for May 17 to be conducted by the Johnson County Medical Examiner's Office.

On Sunday, May 16, 2021, at 1:20 a.m., Iowa City Police Officers responded to the area of Sandusky Drive and Taylor Drive to multiple reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, Officers located a vehicle in the 1300 Block of Bancroft Drive that had collided with a tree. Officers determined that the driver of the vehicle had sustained gunshot wounds. The adult, male victim was transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and was later pronounced deceased.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, May 17, 2021, to be conducted by the Johnson County Medical Examiner’s Office.
No further information is being released at this time pending the results of the autopsy. This incident remains under active investigation by the Iowa City Police Department, the Johnson County Medical Examiner's Office, and the Johnson County Attorney’s Office.
