Iowa City Police: Possible Stabbing Near Railroad Tracks Sends Man to Hospital

Iowa City Police are investigating a possible stabbing on Friday afternoon near the railroad tracks on the south side of town.
Police say a man was being treated at Mercy Hospital for a stab wound to his upper chest at around noon today. The man told police he'd been stabbed the day before at about 2:30 p.m. on Friday by the railroad tracks behind his residence in the 200 block of 1st Street, according to a news release from Iowa City Police. He told police he did not know the person.

The victim was treated and released from the hospital, and the incident remains under investigation, according to the police statement.
Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible, according to the statement.
