A virtual public presentation of proposed Iowa City transit changes with Q & A is to be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 29th, via Zoom.

Below is a high-level overview of the changes, not yet approved by the Iowa City Council. To review the proposed route changes in greater detail, visit www.icgov.org/transitstudy.

* New or modified transit routes

* Simplified routes -- same route weekdays, nights, weekends

* Faster, more direct service with improved on-time performance

* More bus service mid-day and Saturdays

* Two-year pilot of Sunday service (coming late 2021-2022)

* Improved access to shopping or commercial areas

* All passes accepted on Iowa City Transit and Coralville Transit

* Transfers allowed at any bus stop

* 50% youth fare discount

* Free fare for those 65+

* Some bus stop consolidation

The Transit Study website features helpful documents for customers: a flyer for each new route, a flyer providing an overview of proposed changes, and a flyer highlighting the proposed fare and transfer policy changes. The flyers will also be translated into Spanish, French, Arabic, and Chinese and will be posted on www.icgov.org/transitstudy later this week.
