Snowstorm Jonas Could Mean 3 Inches For Parts Of Iowa

A snowstorm will be hitting parts of the country hard this weekend.

Iowa could get a few inches of snow this weekend as winter storm Jonas sweeps the country.

Iowa City is expected to get hit with between one and three inches of snow Monday according to weather.com. The snow showers will start Monday morning and continue through the night. Temperatures will drop only minimally from about 36 degrees Sunday to 32 Monday.

Mason City will also see snow but accumulation will probably be less than an inch. Snow showers will start sometime Monday during the day and continue through midnight Tuesday. Temperatures will be between 28 and 17 Monday.

There will be some snow showers in Des Moines Monday morning and temperatures will reach as low as a chilly 21 degrees.

The snowstorm is expected to hit Washington D.C. and Baltimore the hardest and could bury them under up to 24 inches of snow. The storm could also dump up to 12 inches onto the greater New York City area.
