Weather Forecast: Best Day for Iowa Thanksgiving Travels

The National Weather Service predicts light snow early this week with hopes of clear skies during the Holiday weekend.

The National Weather Service reports that Thanksgiving week travelers have a good chance of reaching their local destinations uninterrupted. The Thanksgiving week forecast for eastern Iowa estimates a few chances for snow earlier in the week with things clearing up a little for the Holiday weekend.

In a chilly weather outlook issued Monday morning, the National Weather Service said that we may get an inch of snow Monday night with additional dusting on Tuesday. Snowfall should end by Wednesday, giving roads a chance to recover by Wednesday for safe travel.

The forecast for eastern Iowa as of Monday showed the following chances of snow this week:

  • 60-percent chance of a light dusting Monday afternoon
  • 30-percent chance early Monday night
  • 30-percent chance Tuesday night
  • Snow not expected between Wednesday and the week’s end

While the forecast looks fairly optimistic in regards to snowfall, the temperatures are not so hot. Consistent highs between 25 and 35 all week will correspond with lows in the high teens.
