Hosted by Tulane Dining Services, Cram at The Commons – Area 51 Edition was held on December 9 from 10:30pm to midnight for 1,400 students featuring a wild mélange of alien-themed food and fun.
Two floors of The Commons were spaced-decked out with giant blow-up aliens, colorful balloons, and themed give-away items like antenna headbands and monster tattoos.

With a musical backdrop by DJ Quinn, students enjoyed “out-of-this-world” couscous sliders, blue and green galaxy popcorn, Saturn’s (onion) rings, Neptune and Planet Earth cupcakes, moon pizza bagels, happy astronaut smiley fries, rocket ship boneless wings, aliens in a blanket (pigs in a blanket), Area 51 hummus and veggies, rocket fuel hot chocolate with green marshmallows, s'mores, and Coca Cola cinnamon coke.
“Cram at The Commons was a really fun way to take a study break during the busy week. I loved the theme and the snacks were out of this world,” said Courtney Fatigato, Class of 2021.

Tulane Dining brought in Elektra Cosmetics for students to get their faces glittered at the “Glitter Buffet”. Elektra, a local company, even designed a custom Tulane green and blue glitter “bolt balm” named “Olive and Blue”.
A Magic Mirror photo booth from another local company AK7 Productions made it possible for students to pose and print up to 6 copies of their pictures with friends to commemorate the night.
Sara White, Class of 2023, said she had an amazing time and that her favorite part was taking goofy pictures with her friends in the photo booth.
“Cram at The Commons was like a middle school dance in the best way possible. Between the lights, music, festivities, and the glitter bar, it provided a much-needed break from the immense stress of finals week,” said Ava Lemos, Class of 2023.
