River-Bound Lane Of Canal Street Reopens To Vehicular Traffic

South Rampart Street was also reopened in both directions.

The river-bound lane of Canal Street from Elk Place to Burgundy Street was reopened to vehicular traffic at 4:30 p.m. yesterday.

Also reopened was South Rampart Street in both directions. The lake-bound lane of Canal Street between Basin and Burgundy streets will remain closed as demolition of the remaining structure at 1031 Canal St. progresses.

The same situation applies to North Rampart Street between Canal and Bienville Streets. No restorations have been made to streetcar service impacted by the building collapse at 1031 Canal St.
