LSU Shreveport’s undergraduate education programs have been included in a listing of Most Affordable Teaching Certificate Bachelor’s in Education Programs in Louisiana release by EducationDegree.com. The website serves as a resource for Teacher Education Programs across the U.S.
“Our department’s mission is to train teachers who are impactful and reflective practitioners, culturally responsive, creative and innovative, deeply engaged in our communities and thought leaders in the profession,” Dr. Cay Evans, Chair and Professor for the Department of Education said. “To be able to do this with face-to-face instruction, small class sizes and affordability is unrivaled. This ranking conveys our commitment to our community, region and state.”

Nationally accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), the university’s undergraduate programs include elementary and secondary education. The programs lead in affordability as they cost $30 less per-credit (hour?) than the state average for similar programs at public colleges.
To determine its listing, EducationDegree.com found qualified Interdisciplinary Training Programs (ITPs) in the state and compared state-average cost-per-credit. All programs with lower than average per-credit costs made the list.
“We are proud to offer high-quality education programs while being listed as the Most Affordable Teaching Certificate Bachelor’s in Education Program in Louisiana,” Dr. Dennis Wissing, Dean of the College of Education and Human Development said. “The LSU Shreveport Department of Education’s faculty are distinguished educators who are dedicated to those student teachers who want to make a difference in the lives of their future students.”
