The first program, “The Unique Context of Contemporary Civil Rights Advocacy,” is presented by Jeri Hilt of the North Louisiana Civil Rights Coalition and will take place on Thursday, April 8 at 6:00 p.m. Hilt will examine current civil rights advocacy trends, issues and events. The discussion is presented in partnership with The North Louisiana Civil Rights Coalition (NLCRC). Dr. Raymond Hicks will present “The Role of Education in the Struggle for Civil Rights.” Dr. Hicks will moderate the program and give a synopsis of the role education plays in the civil rights struggle, examining how racism and segregation are issues still faced today. The program was originally planned as part of the library’s Black History Month celebration, but had to be rescheduled due to winter storms. The program will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 29.
