Remington College celebrates African American History Month
Nonprofit honors diversity with special event

In honor of African American History Month, Remington College Shreveport Campus is hosting a special community event at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11.
Prominent leaders in the local African American community, including Rev. Calvin Austin III and City Marshal Charlie Caldwell, will be speaking. A choir will also perform.
African American History Month has its roots in 1926, with Negro History Week. It was expanded to a month in 1976. Held in February, it is meant to call attention to the accomplishments of black Americans throughout history.
