Live Stream Little League World Series: Maine Vs. Connecticut

SOUTH PORTLAND, ME — Following a close win Friday against New Hampshire, Maine will play for the New England Regional Tournament championship on Saturday in a rematch against Connecticut.

The South Portland American Little League team defeated New Hampshire's Goffstown Junior Baseball Little League team 7-6 on Friday thanks to strong hitting performances from Matthew Fogg and Johnny Poole.

Fogg hit a three-run home run to right field in the top of the 4th inning to tie the game at three runs a piece. The following inning, Poole doubled to right, scoring two. He later stole home. South Portland pitcher Nolan Hobbs did enough to get the win, tossing five innings and allowing five runs — only three earned — while also striking out four batters. He also allowed four walks.

South Portland takes on Connecticut's Fairfield American Little League at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The game will be played at the A. Bartlett Giamatti Little League Leadership Training Center in Bristol.

The two teams played Monday. Fairfield American took that game 8-0 following a strong pitching performance from Ethan Righter, who tossed five innings, striking out nine batters and allowing just two hits and a walk. He also added two hits — including a double — in the game.

Regional play has been going on all week among teams from Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode island and Vermont. The winner from each regional will go to South Williamsport, Pennsylvania, for the Little League World Series for ages 12-and-under, Aug. 17-27.
