SANFORD, ME — A Maine woman on Friday night drove onto a baseball field in the middle of a Little League game and struck and killed a man, according to police. Carol Sharrow, 51, of Sanford, was arrested and charged with manslaughter.
The incident happened at Goodall Park at about 7 p.m. Sharrow, driving a sedan, drove into the park through the main gate and made it onto the field, police said.
"Bystanders and ballplayers scattered to avoid the vehicle as it drove erratically on the ballfield," Sanford police said in a statement. "The vehicle struck a closed gate and then sped toward the open main gate."
