COVID-19 Vaccine Slots Set Aside Near MD Mass Vaccination Sites
Maryland will allocate 2,100 appointments a week for residents near each of the state's mass vaccination sites.

BALTIMORE, MD — To ensure residents who live near mass vaccination sites are being served, the state is setting aside a set number of appointments for area residents.
State officials say they will provide 2,100 priority appointments weekly for Baltimore City residents at the M&T Bank Stadium site.
In addition, authorities say each mass vaccination site in the state will allocate 2,100 appointments for area residents.

To fill these slots, health officials say they will use text-based and call center outreach to contact those on both state and local pre-registration lists.
The state is in its first phase of its vaccine distribution plan, which includes about 2 million of the state's 6 million population. Those eligible for the vaccine are health care workers, educators, continuity of government workers, grocery store employees and those over 65, among others.

“As we continue to ramp up the capacity of our mass vaccination sites, we are also focusing on ensuring equitable access for Marylanders,” Gov. Larry Hogan said in a statement. “Using both our call center and text-based outreach, we are working with local health departments to get shots into arms of our most vulnerable populations.”
Once pre-registered, Marylanders will be notified once an appointment is available, and will be able to verify their pre-registration status and reserve an appointment.
These mass vaccination sites are prioritizing local residents, according to the Maryland Department of Health:
- Baltimore: In addition to M&T Bank Stadium, the Baltimore Convention Center Field Hospital is focusing on city residents in underserved ZIP codes.
- Eastern Shore: The Wicomico Youth and Civic Center in Salisbury will provide at least 2,100 priority appointments weekly for Wicomico, Worcester, Somerset and Dorchester county residents.
- Prince George's County: The site at Six Flags America will provide at least 2,100 priority appointments per week for Prince Georgians.
- Southern Maryland: Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf will provide at least 2,100 priority appointments a week for residents of Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s counties.
- Western Maryland: At the Hagerstown Premium Outlets mass vaccination site, the state will provide at least 2,100 priority appointments a week for Washington, Allegany and Garrett county residents. This site is set to open next Thursday, March 25, to serve western Maryland.
The above are minimum allotments and may increase as supply allows, officials said, noting all are divided equitably by population.
As of Monday, March 15 — about three months after the state received its first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine — nearly 20 percent of the population of Maryland has received a first dose; more than 10 percent received a second dose; and 0.8 percent of the state's population received the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
