Baltimore Man Dies In I-95 Motorcycle Crash: State Police

The fatal motorcycle accident snarled rush-hour traffic Friday morning on southbound I-95 in Baltimore.

BALTIMORE, MD — A fatal motorcycle accident shut down part of Interstate 95 in south Baltimore early Friday, and authorities are investigating the accident, according to the Maryland State Police. All lanes of southbound I-95 were opened by 7 a.m., the police said.

Shortly before 4 a.m. Friday, troopers and Baltimore County paramedics responded to the crash involving two motorcycles on southbound I-95. The site is just north of the exit for I-195, which carries traffic to BWI Marshall Airport.

Upon arrival, the paramedics pronounced one of the accident victims dead at the scene, the Maryland State Police said.

The police identified him as David Yurchak, 70, of Baltimore, who was riding a 2017 BMW motorcycle. Yurchak was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.

The other victim had not been identified as of Friday morning, the police said. He was taken to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he underwent medical treatment for serious injuries.

The State Police said they believe he was riding a 2001 Suzuki motorcycle at the time of the crash.

Three of four lanes on southbound I-95 were closed as police investigated the crash, WBAL-TV Channel 13 reported.

Troopers and a collision investigator with the State Police are working to determine the cause of the crash. The State Police urge anyone who may have witnessed the accident to call them at 410-780-2700.
