BCPS Presents Free Workshops For Parents Of Teens
Baltimore County Public Schools is coordinating a series of workshops for parents to address issues facing teens.

From Baltimore County Public Schools: It’s not easy being a teen. It’s not easy for the teens themselves or for their parents. Baltimore County Public Schools Parent University is offering a free workshop series to help.
“Parents and students are welcome to attend any of the events,” said Susan Hahn, program specialist. “The workshops all address difficult topics faced by adolescents every day, in and out of our homes and schools. The workshops will share practical information and a universal message: You are not alone.”

Youth Mental Health First Aid
- Saturday, April 7, and Saturday, April 14, from 8 a.m. – 12 noon

Parent University and the BCPS Office of Health Services will offer youth mental health “first aid” training in two 4-hour sessions that can help identify whether an adolescent is showing signs and symptoms of mental illness. To register, call Karen Heinrich at 443-809-6397.
Drinking, Driving, and Substance Abuse
- Wednesday, April 11, at 7 p.m.

Baltimore County State’s Attorney Scott Shellenberger will lead a thoughtful discussion about the consequences of underage drinking, distracted driving, and the latest crises in substance abuse. To register, call Rai Cary at 443-809-4496.
Adolescent Depression, Anxiety, and Suicide
