Bon Secours Hospital To Be Acquired By LifeBridge Health: Report

The regional health network will take over long-struggling Bon Secours Hospital in West Baltimore, say media reports.

BALTIMORE, MD — A hospital that serves residents in struggling West Baltimore is coming under new ownership, according to media reports. Bon Secours Baltimore Hospital is being acquired by LifeBridge Health, a regional medical network, the Baltimore Business Journal reported Tuesday, Feb. 26.

LifeBridge CEO Neil Meltzer told the Business Journal that the deal will likely close Aug. 1. The amount of the acquisition and other terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Meltzer declined to say whether Bon secours Baltimore will continue to serve as a traditional hospital until it studies the services needed in the community.

However, LifeBridge promises that the hospital will continue to provide emergency, primary care, outpatient and other services to West Baltimore, the Business Journal reported.

Bon Secours has long struggled financially in serving impoverished West Baltimore, the Business Journal reported. But it will continue to provide a range of social services to West Baltimore residents, according to LifeBridge.
