Coronavirus Testing Site Downtown Reaches Milestone
The Baltimore Convention Center coronavirus testing site has also set a state record for most single-day tests at a walk-up facility.

BALTIMORE, MD — The coronavirus testing site at the Baltimore Convention Center performed its 20,000th test recently, state health officials said. The team reached the milestone Sept. 11, the Maryland Department of Health reported.
The Baltimore Convention Center Field Hospital coronavirus testing site has been open since June 17. In the three months since coming online, it has functioned as a high-volume testing site where people can walk up to get swabbed for the virus.
“It’s difficult work, but it has been critical to the state’s ability to keep the pandemic at bay and remain open for business," Maryland Department of Health Chief Operating Office Dennis Schrader said in a statement. "Operating a COVID-19 testing site of this caliber requires incredible skill, dedication and commitment."
