Crash Closed I-695 At Security Boulevard

The outer loop of the Baltimore beltway was shut down for hours due to a crash Friday morning near Security Boulevard.

BALTIMORE, MD — A crash on Interstate 695 shut down the outer loop Friday morning near Security Boulevard for several hours. Traffic was detoured off the beltway at Liberty Road, according to state transportation officials, and at one point congestion extended to I-795.

The collision was reported around 4:45 a.m. on I-695 before the exit for MD 122/Security Boulevard. Four vehicles collided, officials said.

All lanes were closed on the outer loop, and the left shoulder was closed on the inner loop. Three medics were called to the scene, according to WMAR.

After 7:45 a.m., officials said the crash had cleared.
