Earthquake Near Woodlawn Confirmed By USGS
The U:S. Geological Survey confirmed an earthquake hit Friday afternoon.
WOODLAWN, MD — A magnitude 2.6 earthquake has been confirmed in the Baltimore area Friday afternoon.
It hit around 3:40 p.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
The epicenter of the earthquake was off Windsor Mill Road, about 1 kilometer southeast of Woodlawn, according to the USGS.

Earthquakes happen when there is movement below the Earth's surface.
"MEMA is in touch with local emergency officials in the area but there are no reports of any damage at this time," the Maryland Emergency Management Agency reported before 5 p.m.

Those in Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Harford, Howard and Montgomery counties reported feeling the impact of the earthquake, according to the map crowdsourced by the USGS.
