Flash Flood Watch Issued For 13 MD Jurisdictions
Forecasters say 1 to 3 inches of rain are possible, with the potential for up to 4 inches in some areas.

MARYLAND — Heavy rain is expected Thursday afternoon through Friday morning that could lead to flooding, according to the National Weather Service.
About 1 to 2 inches of rain per hour may fall, with total rain of 1 to 3 inches possible and the potential for up to 4 inches locally.
"Severe thunderstorms with damaging winds are possible, and a brief tornado can't be ruled out," the National Weather Service advised.

Heavy rain in short periods of time will cause the potential for streams and creeks to quickly rise out of their banks, as well as the potential for flash flooding in urban areas.

The District of Columbia and parts of northern Virginia are also under the flash flood watch.
