MD: Check When 3rd Coronavirus Stimulus Payment Arrives

MARYLAND — Residents of Maryland are starting to receive the latest round of stimulus payments from the $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package signed by President Joe Biden last week, and there's an easy way to check when yours will be sent to you.
In the American Rescue Plan Act, each adult earning up to $75,000 adjusted gross income ($150,000 for a married couple) may be eligible for $1,400 relief per person in their family, including children.
The extensive relief package also includes child tax credits, the expansion of Medicaid benefits for new mothers, added unemployment benefits and healthcare subsidies, money for struggling businesses, funding for the vaccine rollout and for schools to reopen, and more. It also will provide relief for many Maryland towns and their businesses.

Gov. Larry Hogan on Monday prohibited garnishment of stimulus payments. Read the governor’s order.
“For more than a year now, COVID-19 has caused incredible hardships for the people of our nation and our state,” Hogan said in a news release. “This funding is intended to support working families and struggling Marylanders, and we are committed to doing everything possible to protect this much-needed relief for those who need it most.”

The governor’s order said American Rescue Plan Act Economic Impact Payments are exempt from garnishment; and all financial institutions are ordered to consider these payments as protected and cannot be subject to a court-ordered garnishment.
Some people have already reported receiving the money in their bank accounts although some banks — including Wells Fargo and JPMorgan Chase — have put holds on the stimulus payments until Wednesday, March 17.
