Most Anticipated Restaurants List 2020: One Is In Baltimore

BALTIMORE, MD — If you love the excitement of trying a delicious new dining option, we’ve got some good news for you.

The Daily Meal recently unveiled its "The Most Anticipated Restaurants of 2020" list, and the online food and dining site included one restaurant from Baltimore.

NiHao is expected to welcome diners this winter in Canton. It is named for the Chinese word for "Hello" or "How do you do?"

The Daily Meal reports the restaurant will open in January, while Baltimore magazine is projecting a February opening at 2322 Boston Street.

Here is the blurb from the Daily Meal:

"Chefs Peter Chang and Pichet Ong are teaming up to open the 140-seat, multi-level NiHao in Baltimore in January. The menu will feature small bites, hot pots, meats, vegetables and rice and noodle dishes, as well as char siu-stuffed croissants, Yunnan cheese and chicken skin dumplings."

The first floor will feature a bar, the second story will have 30 tables with an open/communal feel, the third floor will be a bit fancier and outside a patio at NiHao will have a grill-type atmosphere when the weather warms up, the Baltimore Business Journal reports.

Chang also has restaurants in Virginia and Rockville that WTOP reports have earned him a cult following.

To compile its most anticipated restaurants list — which has 42 restaurants in all— the Daily Meal reached out to dining publicists and industry insiders.

"Plenty of exciting new concepts are coming, from food halls and tasting counters to Neapolitan pizzerias, ramen shops and touristy spots from super-famous chefs, but they all have a couple things in common," according to the Daily Meal writers. "They are all expected to open in 2020, and we can’t wait for any of them."

• Gatsby, Washington, D.C.
• The Grill, Washington, D.C.
• Maialino Mare and Anchovy Social, Washington, D.C.
• NiHao, Baltimore
• Philotimo, Washington, D.C.
