Severe Thunderstorms, Tornadoes, Flash Flooding Possible Thursday

Forecasters advise people in Maryland to keep an eye on the sky during certain hours due to potential for severe weather.

MARYLAND — The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for much of Maryland Thursday due to the potential for strong storms and possibly tornadoes.

Marylanders should be on alert in particular from 1 to 9 p.m., when the risk of severe weather is highest, according to weather officials. For tidal areas, the most likely time for severe weather is from 4 to 9 p.m.

Areas along and north of US 50 are those most likely to experience the severe weather, which will consist of severe thunderstorms with damaging wind gusts and isolated tornadoes, according to the National Weather Service.

Flash flooding is also possible, mainly in northern Maryland, forecasters said.

These areas are under the hazardous weather outlook Thursday, Sept. 3: Allegany, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Calvert, Caroline, Carroll, Cecil, Frederick, Harford, Howard, Kent, Montgomery, Prince George's, Queen Anne's, St. Mary's, Talbot and Washington counties as well as Baltimore City.
