County Police Shoot Man Near Baltimore Police Station: Officials

BALTIMORE, MD — Officials said the police-involved shooting outside a Baltimore police station Wednesday started with a dispute in a Catonsville area driveway.

The shooting victim was in critical condition, authorities reported Thursday.

Around 3 p.m. on Wednesday, officials said a disturbance in the 1400 block of Adamsview Road prompted a response by police from Baltimore County's Woodlawn Precinct.

The victim said a man had blocked his driveway and pointed a gun at him before driving away in a GMC Envoy, police reported.

County police found the vehicle on Hurley Avenue in southwest Baltimore City, where they said the man pointed what officials said was a gun at them.

An officer shot the suspect, who was hospitalized with critical injuries, police said.

The officer involved is on administrative duty.

Police said the disturbance involving the firearm is a county investigation, while the shooting is under investigation through the Baltimore Police Department's detectives in the city.



PREVIOUS REPORT — A man is in critical condition Wednesday night after Baltimore County police shot him in southwest Baltimore City during an investigation, police said.

Baltimore County detectives said they found a suspect in Baltimore City. The nature of the case was not disclosed.

When the man got out of his vehicle and showed what appeared to be a weapon Wednesday afternoon, at least one officer shot him, according to authorities.

City police said the incident occurred in the 400 block of Hurley Avenue in southwest Baltimore. That is about one block from the Southwest District police station.

The man who was shot was taken to an area hospital, where county police said he was in critical condition Wednesday night.

The Baltimore Police Department is handling the criminal investigation, while the Baltimore County Police Department is overseeing the administrative investigation.


INITIAL REPORT — A police-involved shooting has been reported in Baltimore Wednesday near the Southwest District police station.

Baltimore police described the situation as a "Baltimore County police incident being investigated in the 400 block of Hurley Avenue in Southwest Baltimore."

Before 8 p.m., police said these roads were closed in the area: Font Hill Avenue and Kingsley Street, and Hurley and Frederick Avenues.

There is a "large police presence" in the area of Frederick Avenue at Hurley Avenue, WBAL reported Wednesday evening.

The Baltimore County Police Department has responded to the scene, the department's spokesperson reported after 7 p.m.

According to WBAL, the Baltimore County police would be providing more details on the shooting.
