Traffic Advisory: Fleet Week, Running Festival Expected to Cause Weekend Congestion

Maryland Fleet Week and the Baltimore Running Festival both take place this weekend, and are expected to increase traffic.

Officials are warning people that two big events happening in the area this weekend are expected to significantly increase traffic congestion.

Maryland Fleet Week will take place in Baltimore both Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 15-16, featuring air shows, ship tours and festivities throughout the Inner Harbor, Fells Point, Locust Point and Canton areas.

In addition, the Baltimore Running Festival and marathon is expected to bring thousands of people to the downtown area on Saturday. The event will start and finish at Camden Yards.

"All these events will impact traffic flow and parking in the area. The City is encouraging anyone coming to the downtown area to utilize public transportation," City officials said in a news release.
