The summer-long silent auction for local business-sponsored chairs opened last Friday and runs until September 6 for public bidding on 25 chairs and counting.
Proceeds from the auction will help fund revitalization projects throughout Catonsville.
"An improved commercial district makes Catonsville more attractive to the community; it attracts customers to local merchants, and encourages new higher-end businesses to relocate here," according to the Catonsville Chamber of Commerce.

As part of the Catonsville Chair Project by the CCC's Economic Development Committee, each chair was sponsored by a local business, and that business was paired with a local artist to design and paint an Adirondack chair.
The chairs were displayed at the first Frederick Road Friday's concert on June 14 at The Mews on Mellor. Chairs will remain on display until The Catonsville Arts and Crafts Festival on Sunday, September 8, at which time the auction winners will be announced.

The project is "a fun way to bring local businesses, artists and residents together with the profits earned going to help revitalize the town we love," according to the CCC.
