  1. The Baltimore County school district has one of the largest bus fleets in the region, but not enough drivers to match. Shortages of drivers and attendants began before the pandemic, which has since exacerbated the problem. No experience is necessary as BCPS will provide free, paid training for both drivers and attendants. See here for Baltimore County applications. (WBAL)
  2. Mobile crisis teams in Baltimore County responded to the 1,844, out of the 4,319 calls they received in September. When these small crisis teams are not available, calls are rerouted to an already limited police force. But a pilot program funded by a $1.6 million federal grants seeks to rectify those capacity issues. The program will add more more mental health professionals to mobile crisis teams, and reroute calls from the police to the crisis team when the call is mental health related. Plans for rollout begin next month. (The Associated Press)
