Boordy, Royal Rabbit Vineyards Are Finalists in Governor's Wine Competition
Frederick County wine business edges out two Baltimore County vineyards in the Maryland Governors Cup Competition.

Wines by Boordy Vineyards and Royal Rabbit Vineyards in Baltimore County earned a best-in-class berth this week during a statewide wine competition.
Boordy's Vidal Blanc 2012 was one of two finalists in the 23rd annual Maryland Governor's Cup Competition. Royal Rabbit's Chatelaine 2012 also took the award. Royal Rabbit is located in Parkton, and Boordy is in Hydes.Maryland First Lady Katie O'Malley presented the awards Sept. 3 at a reception by the Maryland Wineries Association, according to a news release from the Baltimore County executive's office.

The two Baltimore County wines edged out 27 other wineries and vineyards for the honor.
However, it was a Frederick County business—Black Ankle Vineyards—that took Best in Show, the release states. That was the title Boordy held last year.

"This is a distinct honor for the wine industry in Baltimore County," Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz said in a statement. "I commend Gov. O'Malley for recognizing these vineyards and wineries and the ever-developing wine business in Maryland."
