Catonsville High Class of 2012 Graduates

The Class of 2012 finished up four years at on Wednesday, with commencement at .

Out of the 418 graduates, the students were offered more than $10 million in scholarships, Principal Deborah Bittner said.

In addition to , the graduating class also had one National Merit Scholar finalist: Christopher Blair.

Student speaker Christopher Blair passed on advice from the movie Forrest Gump, which was made in 1994 and the year many of the graduates were born.

What the Class of 2012 should do, Blair said, is run like Forrest Gump.

"Make like Forrest Gump and run for everything in your life," he said. "Get up and pursue your dreams."

Student speaker Hannah Jeffrey reminded the Class of 2012 that since high school probably didn't turn out exactly they way they planned it, they should take those life lessons into the next chapter.

"In life, everyone has to embrace Plan B when it comes along," Jeffrey said. "This is the time to take the scenic route instead of the busy, crowded highway."
