Catonsville Wins State Title In Girls Basketball
BREAKING: The Catonsville Comets beat the defending state champs during Saturday's MPSSAA class 4A girls basketball finals.
TOWSON, MD — The Catonsville Comets girls basketball team won their first state title Saturday in the Maryland Public Secondary School Athletic Association (MPSSAA) championships.
The Comets beat the Walt Whitman Vikings in the hotly contested battle for the class 4A championship, with the scoreboard reading 49-46 at the sound of the buzzer.
The game took place at the SECU Arena at Towson University at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

While the Vikings won the state title last year, The Washington Post reported that Saturday's game marked the first trip for the Comets to the finals since 1987.
