CCBC Joins Training Technician Network

The CCBC will join its network of certified colleges for training the next generation of Dealership Service Technicians.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA US) in conjunction with Mopar CAP (Career Automotive Program) LOCAL and NC3 (National Coalition of Certification Centers) has selected the Community College of Baltimore County to join its network of certified colleges for training the next generation of Dealership Service Technicians. According to the initial release on the program, Mopar CAP LOCAL is an extension of FCA’s traditional Mopar CAP program has been training service technicians to work in Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram Truck dealerships since 1984. A partnership between FCA US and NC3, announced in July 2015, offers a new training model that is seeking to fill FCA’s projected need for more than 5,500 service technician positions by 2018.

According to Roger Tadajewski, Executive Director of National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3), “The Mopar CAP LOCAL program has quickly become one of the most important and effective workforce development projects in many years.”

“The Mopar CAP LOCAL program is consistent with CCBC’s deliberate strategy of formal industry partnership for our broad array of Applied Technology programs. We look forward to the addition of these industry standard-bearers to our current lineup of transformative national and international organizations that are working directly with higher education to address urgent workforce priorities,” notes Doug Kendzierski, chairman of Applied Technology in the School of Technology, Art and Design.

The program is expected to be available to students in the Automotive Technology Program at CCBC Catonsville on August 22, 2016.
