Charm City Ballet is Set to Debut "A Christmas Carol"
Charm City Ballet presents its premier holiday performance of "A Christmas Carol" at the Baltimore Museum of Art.
Charm City Ballet will present its debut performance, “A Christmas Carol,” on December 19th, 2015 at Baltimore Museum of Art’s, Joseph and Rebecca Meyerhoff Auditorium, located at 10 Art Museum Drive Baltimore, Maryland. This highly anticipated production will be original full-length ballet rendition of the Dickens’ tale, “A Christmas Carol”, which will uniquely feature a very diverse group of some of the most talented dancers from the Baltimore Metropolitan region. The cast includes 32 dancers, ranging from ages 8 to 70.The music includes some of Nick Bicat’s original score, as used in the 1984 film adaptation, as well as the works of Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev.
Founding directors Rebecca Friedman and Peter Commander provide both the leadership and vision for Baltimore County-based Charm City Ballet. Both Rebecca and Peter are 2009 graduates of Goucher College, where they studied and performed in the highly regarded dance department, with both faculty and renowned guest artists. They also serve as the ballet company’s chief choreographers. Regarding the thematic selection of the debut ballet production, Commander comments that, “since we both [Friedman and Commander] have a long history of ‘The Nutcracker,’ we decided that the Charles Dickens’ tale was a worthy alternative.”
Charm City Ballet will present two shows at 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Though the 1:30 p.m. show has sold out, tickets are still available for the evening show. For tickets and more information please visit: www.charmcityballet.com.
