I-695 Trike Crash Sends 2 To Shock Trauma: Police

A crash from Interstate 695 Tuesday afternoon near Wilkens Avenue involved two trike-style bikes, Maryland State Police reported.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Police said a man and woman were hospitalized Tuesday after their trike-style motorcycles crashed on Interstate 695 near Wilkens Avenue. Both were seriously injured, authorities said, and one was unresponsive.

The two-vehicle crash occurred around 2:45 p.m. on the inner loop of I-695 before the exit for Wilkens Avenue, state transportation officials said.

Police said the motorcycles had been together in the second lane from the left in moderately congested traffic when the woman braked suddenly, and the man's motorcycle hit her.

Both were taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, according to Maryland State Police, who said their injuries were serious. The man was unresponsive when authorities arrived, police reported.

Multiple lanes were closed during the response. Officials said that by 4:30 p.m, the crash had cleared.
