Free Parking in Catonsville to Encourage Shopping Local for Holidays

Parking meters will not be in effect in the 'Ville for five days next week, Baltimore County announced.

CATONSVILLE, MD - Parking meters in Catonsville and other parts of Baltimore County will be free five days next week, officials announced, a gift to those shopping locally for Christmas and Hanukkah.

"Seasons Greetings" bags will cover parking meters, indicating it's free to park there for two hours, from Wednesday, Dec. 21, to Sunday, Dec. 25.

“The rush is on and Baltimore County is offering a little relief at the parking meter during the busiest days of the holiday season,” Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz said in a statement. “We encourage everyone to support our local merchants for original gifts and personal service.”

In addition to Catonsville, meters will be free in Arbutus, Dundalk, Essex, Overlea, Parkville, Pikesville, Stoneleigh and Towson; in all, there will be 1,735 meters covered in Baltimore County.
