Phyllis Yingling's Oil Paintings Take People on Visual Vacations
Charlestown Art Gallery Exhibit Features Her Intricately-Detailed Depictions of Landscapes and Seascapes.

CATONSVILE, MD (March 7, 2016) – Phyllis Yingling’s “Castle Rhine” (oil/canvas) seen in above image is one of 13 pieces of her art exhibited during March in the Charlestown Art Gallery. She takes people on visual vacations, with many of her intricately-detailed oil paintings depicting landscapes and seascapes done from photographs taken while she traveled.
Yingling began painting in oils while attending Shepherd College. She continued taking classes with a local artist, but it was not until 1992 that she began seriously studying art. She also took courses in oil painting, watercolor and portrait painting at Catonsville Community College.
Yingling, a former teacher of hearing impaired students, has exhibited in the Mountain Laurel Shop in Berkeley Springs, WV, and in Sobo Café in Federal Hill, Baltimore City.
