Ship's Cafe Encloses Deck for Year-Round Seating

While many patrons loved the covered deck upstairs at , the space was only used during the days when the weather was nice.

But owners Jim and Sharon Andrews have needed more seating year round and can't expand anywhere else on the Frederick Road property.

"We're bursting at the seams," Sharon Andrews told Patch Wednesday.

So the owners decided to enclose the deck, adding siding and windows. Now, they have seating for 32 all year, she said.

The upstairs area still feels like a outside seating, with eight double windows that can open when the weather is warm. The screens are invisible, giving dinners a better view of Frederick Road.

The room will soon be open to diners every day after a few more finishing touches are made to the room, Sharon Andrews said.
