Donald Trump has turned his whole re-election campaign into one of race hate, law and order and a bizarre invention of a threat from "left-wing fascists."
Alabama governor George Wallace (pictured) in 1968 ran the same kind of campaign as a third party candidate for president.
Wallace caried just five Southern states, won less than ten million popular votes and just 46 electoral votes.
