Western Students Take a Stand Against Tobacco
Students at the Western School of Technology and Environmental Science performed in a flash mob and pledged to not smoke last week.
Western School of Technology and Environmental Science's S.A.D.D. (Students Against Destructive Decisions) chapter took part in Kick Butts Day, an annual day in which students take a stand against tobacco.
On Wednesday, March 20, more than 400 students pledged to stop or not start smoking, and a flash mob held anti-smoking signs during a dance at the school.
Forty-three S.A.D.D. members collected more than 1.5 pounds of cigarette butts as well.

While the U.S. has greatly reduced youth smoking, 18.1 percent of high school students still smoke, and nearly 1,000 kids become regular smokers each day, according to a press release.
