Boy Brings Cookies To His Buddies At Edgewater Police Station

A little boy brought cookies to the Southern District police station in Edgewater for the officers he adores.

EDGEWATER, MD — Call it a beloved holiday tradition: A little boy drops by the Southern District Anne Arundel County Police station in Edgewater with treats for the officers he looks up to. Last year, young Tyler stopped in with candy on Christmas Eve; this year the youngster visited a couple weeks early with cookies.

Residents from across Anne Arundel County often visit their nearest police station in the days leading up to holiday to drop off cards, cookies, and more as a thank-you for the work police officers do every day of the year. But it would be tough to find anyone was more excited to visit a police station than young Tyler, who returned with baked goods and got another chance to take the wheel of a police cruiser.

"We know it is the holiday season when our friend Tyler stops by Southern District to bring us holiday cookies," the department posted Tuesday on its Facebook page. "For the second year in a row, Tyler visited with Corporal Salenieks and got to have some fun in a police car. Thanks again Tyler and Alexandra! We hope you and your family have a happy holiday."

And police officers weren't the only ones touched by Tyler's thoughtful gesture. Residents on Facebook praised the boy's action.

"What a very thoughtful young man. Merry Christmas Tyler. You Rock," wrote one reader.

The department shared photos of the visit by Tyler Besides hopping behind the wheel of a patrol car, posing with Corporal Andrew Salenieks and generally loving his trip to the station.

In an email from Tyler's mom, Alexandra, last year she wrote:

"It was great meeting you yesterday. Thank you for your time and warmth towards Tyler — it was a great adventure! He talked about you and your vehicle all day. I'm so glad we got to meet you when we dropped off our yearly thank you/holiday candy."

Cookies may not have been the biggest gift shared.
