Carlo DeBari, 82, of Edgewater: Obituary

EDGEWATER, MD — Carlo DeBari, 82, of Edgewater, MD and previously of Long Beach, NY, passed away at his home following a lengthy illness on Saturday, December 17, 2016.

Carlo was born in Italy on December 18, 1933, to the late Nicola and Carolina DeBari. After the death of his mother at a young age, Carlo's father left his care to a monastery. Later, Carlo and his older sister immigrated to the United States. After settling in Manhattan, he married Mafalda and raised four children while working as an electrician for Union Local 3 in New York. Carlo enjoyed poker, dominos, chess and was an unbeatable checker player.

In addition to his parents, Carlo was preceded in death by a son, Vincenzo DeBari; and his sister, Lina Ruggieri.

Carlo is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mafalda; three sons, John (Sherri), Tony (Christine), and Mauro all of Edgewater, MD; five grandchildren, Joseph, Michael, Christina, Melissa and Angelina; and one great-granddaughter, Chloe.

Friends are invited to celebrate Carlo's life on Tuesday, December 20, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home ,2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater, where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 21, at 11 am. Entombment immediately following at Bestgate Memorial Park, 814 Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD.
