Edgewater Man Arrested After Firing Gun In His Backyard: Police

Police say a 19-year-old Edgewater man fired a shotgun in his backyard on Friday. He was arrested soon after.

EDGEWATER, MD — Police arrested an Edgewater man accused of shooting a gun in his backyard Friday afternoon. Bailey Joseph Staples, 19, faces one charge of reckless endangerment, which is a misdemeanor.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department was called to the 3800 block of Holly Drive around 4:15 p.m. for reports of shots fired behind a home. Investigators say Staples fired a shotgun into the ground. Police deemed the act reckless because Staples' closest neighbors live less than 100 yards away.

Staples was released on recognizance.
