Edgewater Shooting Kills 1, Injures Another: Police

A shooting in Edgewater killed one man and injured another, police said. Officers have a suspect, but they need help finding him.

EDGEWATER, MD — An Edgewater shooting killed one man and injured another Saturday night, police said. Officers believe the shooting was a targeted, and they ruled it a homicide.

Police identified the deceased victim as Annapolis man Ronal Alcidis Maldonado Quijada. The 52-year-old died on the scene. An autopsy will determine the exact cause and manner of his death.

Medics took the other injured man to an unnamed hospital. The 28-year-old is expected to survive.

Police came to the scene in the 20th block of Brick Church Road around 7:15 p.m. Investigators collected evidence and interviewed witnesses.

Though the accused man fled in a gray vehicle, officers eventually identified a suspect. Police secured an arrest warrant for Wilber Oswaldo Nunez-Menendez early Sunday morning.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department said Menendez faces:

  • One count of first-degree murder
  • One count of attempted first-degree murder
  • Two counts of first-degree assault
  • Two counts of second-degree assault
  • Two counts of reckless endangerment
  • Multiple counts of gun crimes

Officers have not yet found the 25-year-old Crownsville man. He lives in the unit block of Summer Hill Trailer Park. Police executed a search warrant and recovered Menendez's vehicle.

Investigators are still gathering information on the shooting and Menendez's potential location. Officers urge everybody to avoid contact with Menendez, as he could be armed and dangerous. Police said anybody who knows where Menendez is should call 911.
