Anne Arundel County Government has a new chief of staff, and he goes by the name Rook.

County Executive Laura Neuman has appointed Richard C. "Rook" Rogers as her newest chief of staff, according to a press release. Neuman's former chief of staff, Dave Cordle, stepped down as her right-hand-man in September.

In the position, Rogers will oversee the executive's office and constituent and community engagement. The job's annual salary is $130,000.

“Rook is a proven business leader with a commitment and passion for Anne Arundel County,” said Neuman. “His organization skills, team approach to management and dedication to hard work will be a tremendous asset to my Administration and the citizens of our County.”

Prior to being appointed as chief of staff, Rogers was the Chief Executive Officer and partner of E-Landscape and Specialty Solutions, Inc., a large commercial landscape company based in Davidsonville that handled developments such as Crosswinds at Annapolis Towne Centre and Anne Arundel Medical Center.

Rogers is a lifelong resident of Anne Arundel County, and serves as a volunteer for several charitable organizations in Anne Arundel County.
