Honey Hive, Davidsonville Artist to Raise Funds for AAMC

Honey Hive owner Rachel Powers hopes the event will be the first in a series of montly meet-the-artist events at the bakery.

Honey Hive is joining with local artist Linda McCarthy to promote her L'il Angels calendar and raise funds for the NICU at Anne Arundel County medical Center.

McCarthy lives and works in Davidsonville. Her L'il Angels calendar, which features local babies, is in its eighth year and has raised $90,000 so far for the AAMC NICU.

Honey Hive owner Rachael Powers is excited to host McCarthy and help raise money for the local hospital. There will be drinks, food and the first 20 people to walk through the door will win a free photo session with McCarthy and a gift bag of $100 worth of prizes.

"I think it's going to be really fun and for a good cause," Powers said.

The L'il Angels calendar fundraiser will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 1 at Honey Hive, located at 155 Mitchells Chance Road.

Powers is hoping McCarthy will be the first in a new Artist of the Month series she'd like to host at her artesian bakery. She is hoping to hold similar meet-the-artist receptions featuring a different local artist each month. The artist's work would be showcased—or even sold—in the bakery.

In addition to monthly artist receptions, Powers is also hoping to start a monthly open mic night at Honey Hive this spring, featuring local and high school bands. She envisions the monthly music night to be family and teen friendly get togethers for the community.

Anyone interested in being featured as artist of the month, or playing at an open mic night should contact Powers at rachael.powers@yahoo.com.
