John Joseph Glynn, 85, of Edgewater: Obituary

EDGEWATER, MD — John Joseph Glynn, a five-year resident of Edgewater and previously of Upper Marlboro, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2016, at Brightview South River in Edgewater.

John was born on April 19, 1931 in New York City, NY, to the late William and Nellie Shea Glynn and graduated from LaSalle High School in New York City. He served his country in the United States Air Force, and worked for the Department of Defense. John was a past State Deputy for the Knights of Columbus and a parishioner at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. His hobbies included woodworking, camping and spending time with his family.

John is survived by his wife of 65 years, Patricia Glynn; his children: John Glynn, Jr. and his wife Kathryn, Elaine Heinlein and her husband George, Thomas Glynn and his wife Suzi, Noreen Davis and her husband Joe, Anne Marie Grenaldo and her husband Paul and William Glynn and his wife Joan; brother of Joseph and William Glynn; grandfather of Lauren, Erin, Molly, Helen, Rose, Joseph, Maggie, Drake, Meaghan, David, Jane William, Michael and the late Kevin; great-grandfather to Maxwell, Nathan and Alison.

Friends may call at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater, on Wednesday, November 9, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 10 at noon at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 515 Loch Haven Road in Edgewater.

Interment will be at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Special Olympics Maryland, 3701 Commerce Drive, Suite 103, Baltimore, MD 21227. Make checks payable to SOMD.
